President Carl gave updates on all our activities as well as upcoming activities for the club. The meeting was officially adjourned at 8:00pm. No meeting September 1, 2011 in celebration of upcoming holiday Labor Day.

August 17, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The August 18, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome and proceeded to a dinner served by Bistro 821 staff. President Carl gave updates on all our activities as well as upcoming activities for the club. The meeting was officially adjourned at 8:10pm.

With an excellent turnout of members, potential members and guests President Carl gave updates on all our activities as well as upcoming activites for the club. The meeting was officially adjourned at 8:10pm.

August 4, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The August 4, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome. This was a "casual" meeting at the Bistro 821 with much sharing of news and events between members while enjoying the ambiance of Bistro 821 downstairs seating. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm.

July 28, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting for July 28, 2011 was called to order at 6:00pm by President Carl Thome. This was a mini club assembly to discuss the latest happenings both district wide and club wide. After various discussions on upcoming projects and events the club was adjourned at 7:45pm.

July 21, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting and Governor's Visit

The Naples Sunset Rotary Club meeting was called to order at 6:45pm by President Carl Thome with the Invocation and Pledge Allegiance. After dinner President Carl gave the latest happenings for our club and then introduced the new Governor of our Rotary District 6960 for her presentation to our club. Governor Hearns discussed a number of District 6960 upcoming projects as well as the District Convention Cruise to be held in April 2012. July 14, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The July 14, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome at 6:30pm. President Thome gave the Invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance. After dinner President Carl discussed the latest happenings with the club and restated the Governor's visit at our next week's meeting and asked all members for an excellent turnout. The club adjourned at 8:00pm. Because of District 6960 Governor's visit to our club next week (July 21st) the meeting will be held on 821 5th Avenue in downtown Naples at Bistro 821 in their second level private meeting room.

July 7, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The July 7, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Club meeting was called to order at 6:30pm at our summer meeting location of Total Wine & More in Naples, Florida. President Carl Thome gave the Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Followed we discussed the latest happenings, our June fundraiser and upcoming meetings and locations. Next week (July 14th) will be held on 821 5th Avenue in downtown Naples at Bistro 821 in their second level private meeting room. Meetings will be held at this location on July 21st, August 4th and September 8th. All other summer meetings until October will be at Total Wine & More at Carillon Place, 5048 Airport Pulling Road in Naples, Florida. When in doubt check with our blog!! Our meeting also had a presentation by Brittany Meyer, T.W.P. on four wines from Total Wine with samples and explanations of the wine and its history. Meeting adjourned at 8pm.

June 22, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Fundraiser

The Naples Sunset Rotary Fundraiser was held at Sea Salt on 3rd in down town Naples, Florida on June 22, 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The fundraiser was an excellent success with many folks enjoying wine and cheese as well as the fine conversation. The club will be reviewing the results in the anticipation of doing this twice or three times a year.

There will be no meeting on June 29, 2011 in celebration of the July 4th holiday period.

NOTE: The Naples Sunset Rotary Club will be meeting at Total Wine & More, Carillon Place, 5048 Airport Pulling Road, Naples, Florida for the months of July, August and September at 6:00pm with a return to the Bellasera Hotel in October 2011.

June 16, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The June 16, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome at 6:45pm with the Invocation and Pledge Allegiance. Following dinner President Carl discussed in detail the upcoming fund raiser next Wednesday June 22, 2011 at SeaSalt on 3rd at 6:00pm. Assistant Governor Zillman gave a report on last week's District 6960 Convention and the various activities and meetings. President Carl accepted a banner from visiting Rotarian George McCaigue from the Rotary Club of Banbridge District 1160 Northern Ireland who was there club's Past President. Our meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm.

Reminder that our next meeting will be on Wednesday June 22, 2011 at SeaSalt on 3rd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm .... our summer fundraiser. Also there will be no meeting on the 30th of June due to the upcoming July 4th holiday.

June 9, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The June 9, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome with the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. After dinner President Carl discussed the upcoming club fund raiser and district conference. Assistant Governor and Past President Marcus Zillman introduced our Ambassadorial Scholar Johnnie Shubert who will be leaving for New Zealand next week to study for his PhD. Johnnie showed updates on his latest project and pictures of his host club in New Zealand. He promised us that he will be blogging all his activities in New Zealand and we will be linking to his site. A number of question and answers were given. The club adjourned at 7:50pm.

June 2, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Club Meeting

The June 2, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome at 6:50pm and followed by Invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. After dinner President Carl updated the club on various upcoming activities including our June 22nd fund raiser headed up by club member Brady Young. Jane Mulholland, visiting Rotarian and President of Greenway River Oaks Rotary Club of Houston, Texas presented our club president Carl Thome with their club banner. Our speaker Kathryn Leib Hunter, Executive Director of NAMI of Collier County was introduced by club member Adoni Kokkinos. Kathryn discussed the various activities of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Collier County which includes a number of excellent education and support programs. NAMI serves the one in four families of Southwest Florida affected by serious and persistent mental illness, and their families, through support, education and advocacy. May 26, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The May 26, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Club meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome followed by the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. The speaker David Tetzlaff- Director of the Naples Zoo gave the club an excellent Power-Point Presentation of the present and future direction of the Naples Zoo. He was assisted by his Director of Operations-Doug Rickenbach. President Carl presented David a framed photograph the he took of David’s parents in 1962 in Ohio when they were still doing private parties. David mentioned he was only 2 months old when the photo was taken! Meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm .

May 19, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The May 19, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome at 6:50pm with the Invocation and Pledge Allegiance. Following dinner President Carl reviewed a number of happenings including a successful 1,000,000 meal+ event and the fact that our club was number one in Area 2 for Rotary Foundation Giving at the 80% level. Past President Herb Buck introduced our speaker, Yasim Saad Avola, who discussed her activities with the Mexico Mission trip of the First Presbyterian Church. This is the 10th annual trip to Mexico and the high school youngsters will build 4 homes during the mission. Yasim has been involved with the project for a number of years and described it as one of her true passions. After her presentation there were a number of questions from club members. The club adjourned at 8:00pm.

May 12, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The May 12, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl with the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. Following dinner President Carl discussed a number of upcoming club happenings and events as well as meeting location changes. Past President George Leamon introduced the speaker, Jeremy Frantz, Conservation Associate from the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. Jeremy discussed SB 2156 Growth Management, SB 2142 Legislative Control of Water Management District Budgets, HB 993 Rulemaking, and HB 421 Agriculture Exemptions. These are all bills that the Conservancy of Southwest Florida consider bad bills. Questions and answers followed Jeremy's presentation. The club adjourned at 8pm.

May 5, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The May 5, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome with the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. Following dinner President Thome discussed the various upcoming projects and events of District 6960. The speaker Paul Mattausch, Director of the Water Department, Collier County Public Utilities Division, was introduced by Naples Sunset Rotary member Gary Blaine. Paul's presentation covered all the latest happenings at the Collier County Water Department and discussed a number of current programs that will be improving the system. Numerous questions were asked by club members and all enjoyed the excellent presentation. Following adjournment the Naples Sunset Rotary Board of Directors meeting was called to order for a discussion of upcoming club meeting sites and times and will be brought to the entire club at the Mat 12, 2011 meeting.
