August 31, 2016 Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotary Event

Wednesday, August 31st, we had a great wine tasting social evening event at Bleu Provence with a special visit from our new District Governor, Ladd Waldo (from Lakewood Ranch Rotary Club), his lovely wife Sally and Area Governor Jeff Clapper (from North Naples Rotary Club). Four prospective new members were present and we played an engaging game of who would you have lunch with and where. Governor Waldo gave a great speech going over his personal experiences with Rotary (he started his Rotary life right at the top at Rotary International Headquarters in Chicago as the Rotary International’s Chief Financial Officer), energizing us with the history and purpose of us being Rotarians and inviting all to Atlanta next June for the Rotary International Convention and to the District 6960 “British Invasion” in Sarasota next May. A fun time was had by all. Next Wednesday morning, September 7th, our Speaker will be Carly Gibb filling us in on Drug Free Collier. August 25, 2016 Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotary Meeting

On Thursday, August 25th, the Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Rob Samouce at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance by Rob. Visitors were introduced and many happy bucks were collected by Sgt-at-Arms Robbie Selby. Our speaker was introduced by President Elect Jim Juliano: Executive Director of the United Arts of Collier County, Marcia Clark. Ms. Clark has worked many years for non-profits and was a founding board member of Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. She explained the local mission of the United Arts as a liaison to visual and musical artists throughout the area. United Arts also provides “Arts” programs to our youth throughout the County including over 5,000 who live in Immokalee. To find out more go to: http://www.uaccollier.com/. Next Wednesday evening, August 31st, members who timely RSVP’d (now sold out) will be meeting at Blue Provence with our new District Governor.

August 18, 2016 Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotary Meeting

The Thursday, August 18th, Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Rob Samouce at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance by Walter Douglas. Visitors were introduced and many happy bucks were collected by Sgt-at-Arms Robbie Selby. Everyone sported their new Rotary Club name badges. Our speakers were introduced by Walter: the Director of the Frances Pew Hayes Center for Lifelong Learning, Barbara W. Hawkes, MA and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence Director Marian Klink. Barbara and Marian gave us in-depth insight into these popular community outreach programs of Hodges University. The Life Long Learning Center offers Lectures throughout the year on a vast array of areas of study wherein you can attend your first lecture for free. To find out more click here. The Center for Nonprofit Excellence provides two hour courses on governance, operations, and management of non-profits at the Fort Myers Campus as well as 11 other locations in Southwest Florida. August 10, 2016 Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotary Meeting

The August 10, 2016, Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Rob Samouce at 7:30 a.m. followed by the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance by Ann Towers. Visitors were introduced and many happy bucks were collected by Sgt-at-Arms Robbie Selby. President-Elect Jim Juliano was present returning from his successful delicate neck operation. Our speaker was introduced, Collier County Growth Management Department Head, David Wilkison, P.E. who went thorough in detail where the future growth will be mostly East of I75 in Golden Gate Estates and in a proposed new huge community out by Ava Maria. Immokalee will see a bypass route and Logan Boulevard will extend to Bonita Beach Road. On the coast we will see tear downs of older two story condos being replaced with hi-rises and the Davis/41 Triangle will come out of the ground. Because of high coastal land values, future coastal projects will go vertical. Next Thursday evening, August 18th, we will again meet for dinner in Gathering Room #3 at 6:00 p.m. (cocktails in the Bar at 5:30 p.m.) at the Hyatt House. August 3, 2016 Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotary Meeting

The Naples Gulf Shore Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by Immediate Past President Dan Herrington at 7:30am followed by Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation. Visitors and visiting Rotarians were introduced. Following breakfast our speakers were introduced - the new Executive Director of the City of Naples Airport Authority, Naples Municipal Airport, Chris Rozansky and his associate Diane Terrill, Director of Strategy and Communications. Chris came on board at the Airport in March of this year after serving as director of the Venice Municipal Airport for more than 5 years and Diane has been with the Airport since 2014. Previously she was with the Municipal Airport in Gilford, New Hampshire for 15 years. Their airport update was well received by all our club members. Next Wednesday morning, August 10th, we will again meet for breakfast in Gathering Room #3 at 7:30 a.m. at Hyatt House Naples. Our speaker will be Collier County Growth Management Department Head, David Wilkison, P.E. who will inform us when and where the new growth will be coming.
