June 22, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Fundraiser

The Naples Sunset Rotary Fundraiser was held at Sea Salt on 3rd in down town Naples, Florida on June 22, 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The fundraiser was an excellent success with many folks enjoying wine and cheese as well as the fine conversation. The club will be reviewing the results in the anticipation of doing this twice or three times a year.

There will be no meeting on June 29, 2011 in celebration of the July 4th holiday period.

NOTE: The Naples Sunset Rotary Club will be meeting at Total Wine & More, Carillon Place, 5048 Airport Pulling Road, Naples, Florida for the months of July, August and September at 6:00pm with a return to the Bellasera Hotel in October 2011.

June 16, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The June 16, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome at 6:45pm with the Invocation and Pledge Allegiance. Following dinner President Carl discussed in detail the upcoming fund raiser next Wednesday June 22, 2011 at SeaSalt on 3rd at 6:00pm. Assistant Governor Zillman gave a report on last week's District 6960 Convention and the various activities and meetings. President Carl accepted a banner from visiting Rotarian George McCaigue from the Rotary Club of Banbridge District 1160 Northern Ireland who was there club's Past President. Our meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm.

Reminder that our next meeting will be on Wednesday June 22, 2011 at SeaSalt on 3rd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm .... our summer fundraiser. Also there will be no meeting on the 30th of June due to the upcoming July 4th holiday.

June 9, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting

The June 9, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome with the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. After dinner President Carl discussed the upcoming club fund raiser and district conference. Assistant Governor and Past President Marcus Zillman introduced our Ambassadorial Scholar Johnnie Shubert who will be leaving for New Zealand next week to study for his PhD. Johnnie showed updates on his latest project and pictures of his host club in New Zealand. He promised us that he will be blogging all his activities in New Zealand and we will be linking to his site. A number of question and answers were given. The club adjourned at 7:50pm.

June 2, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Club Meeting

The June 2, 2011 Naples Sunset Rotary Meeting was called to order by President Carl Thome at 6:50pm and followed by Invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. After dinner President Carl updated the club on various upcoming activities including our June 22nd fund raiser headed up by club member Brady Young. Jane Mulholland, visiting Rotarian and President of Greenway River Oaks Rotary Club of Houston, Texas presented our club president Carl Thome with their club banner. Our speaker Kathryn Leib Hunter, Executive Director of NAMI of Collier County was introduced by club member Adoni Kokkinos. Kathryn discussed the various activities of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Collier County which includes a number of excellent education and support programs. NAMI serves the one in four families of Southwest Florida affected by serious and persistent mental illness, and their families, through support, education and advocacy.
